The hiatus has finally been lifted for the Boston Celtics! Following their 106-88 victory against the Dallas Mavericks, the Celtics have cemented their legacy as NBA Champions for the first time since 2008.
Celtics forward Jayson Tatum led the way for the champs in Game 5 with 31 points, 11 assists, and 8 rebounds. Fellow running mate Jaylen Brown received the honor of NBA Finals MVP, averaging 20.8 points per game throughout this series.
Tatum and Brown finally silence the haters
After the countless dogfights this young duo has endured, they can finally claim their throne as champions. Throughout their seven years together on the Celtics, they have encountered many ups and downs at such a young age. Both players had no choice but to journey through the storm together with the ever-changing pieces among them.
For Tatum and Brown, many critics raved about how they could coexist together. This Finals run demonstrated their ability to remain a formidable force for many years.
JT saw his game in the Finals translate to a playmaker who elevated the intensity of his teammates. Brown became the anchor this championship team needed to strike a chord with the Mavericks.
The band of brothers that carried the torch
Give credit to the depth surrounded by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. The acquisition of big-time names in Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis helped put this Celtics team on the map.
Versatility is the word that best describes the impact of the core players on the Celtics. Derrick White made huge strides this season and became a favorable backcourt pairing with prior NBA Champion Jrue Holiday.
Al Horford was a pivotal veteran who received much praise and recognition from his teammates following the NBA Finals postgame celebration. He has made so many sacrifices to help place this team in a position to get over the hump.
Jrue Holiday was a contributor who gave the Celtics the edge they so desperately needed at the point guard position. The sacrifices he made night in and out paved the way for him to thrive in his first season with Boston.

Now that the Celtics have secured their league-leading 18th NBA Championship, their affinity is only up from here. All-Stars Jayson Tatum is only 26 years old, and Jaylen Brown is 27 years old; their legacy is only up from here.
They have the opportunity to create a dynasty in Boston for many seasons.
The Boston Celtics are dominating the world and have solidified their position at the top with their 18th banner. Next season will come with much more pressure, but for now, cheers to the effort displayed by this Celtics team.
