The New England Patriots have signed former All-Pro wide receiver Stefon Diggs to a three-year, $69 million deal with $26 million guaranteed, a league source confirmed to The Athletic.
Diggs, 31, joins a Patriots team currently rebuilding around young quarterback Drake Maye. Nevertheless, Maye showed promise last season despite New England finishing 4-13 in the AFC East.
Consequently, this addition instantly strengthens the Patriots’ receiver corps. Last season, New England ranked 31st in passing touchdowns and 22nd in completions. Diggs provides a proven target for Maye, who previously lacked elite receiving options.
An ACL injury ended Diggs’s 2024-25 season with the Houston Texans in Week 8 against the Colts on Oct. 27. Despite this setback, Diggs finished with 496 receiving yards on 47 receptions from 64 targets, marking his first sub-1,000-yard season since 2017.
This now marks Diggs third team in three seasons. While with Buffalo, he became the only Bills receiver since 2000 to record four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons and earned Pro Bowl honors from 2020 to 2023.
Additionally, New England also gains a veteran presence in the locker room. The team relied heavily on second-year receivers DeMario Douglas and Kayshon Boutte, along with tight end Hunter Henry.
A healthy Diggs should immediately become Maye’s top target. His experience and playmaking ability could help the Patriots improve their passing attack and compete in the AFC East.
The signing signals that New England is serious about accelerating its rebuild. With Diggs added to the mix, the Patriots’ offense now features a mix of youth, skill, and veteran leadership.
